Combining Discs

Post by Jsbulger »

Hey All,

I have the Lord of the Rings Trilogy in 4K UHD, and it came with both Theatrical and Extended Editions. I have ripped the Extended Editions, but those are in TWO Discs/Files. How can I combine these into one file? I tried using MakeMKV Tool Nix, but it didn't combine them, even though I added both files, and tried to append them. Does anyone know an easy way to combine both discs?

MKVToolNix worked fine for me.

I did get an error playing back the combined MKV file on the Zidoo when it got to the part for that would normally require a switch to the second disc. Upon further investigation, I needed to use MKVToolNix to edit the chapter numbers as it was going back to chapter 1 when it should have been the next chapter number. So, I had to renumber the chapters. I did this for all three LotR Extended Editions and Hobbit 3D Extended Editions. No problem.

"LosslessCut" *should* handle everything automatically and you can edit on I frames to remove titles/credits.

So, how exactly did you get it to combine the files? Because when I tried, it just output one file at the same size as the first file, not a combined size.
