Worst case scenario?

#1 Post by shadow-archetype » Wed Aug 06, 2025 3:10 pm

Assuming Mike, for whatever reason, never returns, how does this whole situation play out?

As far as the mods have indicated, it means that people who placed orders that aren’t fulfilled request refunds from PayPro Global. And we all try to find a more permanent workaround for the beta key

PayPro Global is already issuing refunds to people who didn't get keys, whether they've requested a refund or not.

That's a super cute user name, by the way. :D

Good to know that people are at least getting their refunds.

Aww, thanks. What can I say? I like birds.

Can confirm. I received a refund and never asked for one. Was giving it time to see how it plays out. I guess pay pro gave up and didn’t want to hear about it.

Its not the best work around in the world, but I started making myself a small program called "MakeMKV-Loader" that changes my internal clock to July 30 and then starts the program and turns it back immediately after. I started working on it a few hours ago and its almost complete. I wouldn't feel comfortable uploading it for other windows users to use (windows only) unless Mike never returns. (Just due to the work around nature of it). But if anyone is interested I will post it once we know for sure whether or not this will be abandonware.

I can also see that someone will probably make a keygen in the future if something has happened with Mike. Let's hope it's nothing to bad.

It looks like everything is going to be okay. Billy posted this on Reddit not long ago.
"It's not the end of the road guys I just talked to him on Friday if me or him would have known about this issue then it likely would be fixed already"

I know this was asked on other threads, but I don’t think a clear answer was given. What about new discs that need their tgz file emailed for decryption? Is this a manual process done by a human or automatic? Sorry for not fully understanding how it works or if this was previously answered somewhere else and I missed it. I hope all is well with Mike. Software is great and a bargain considering the alternatives.

He actually clarified that comment after everyone was asking then why hasn't it been fixed.

What he meant, is he talked to Mike very early Friday morning before the key issue came up.
No one's been in contact with him since. Or at the very least, no one that's saying anything, so....

Also something similar happened 2 months ago, I found another reddit post where Billy said "makemkv will likely be back up

mike checks on makemkv maybe every 2 weeks or so he usually very busy"

So give it some time

Hello,

I am completely new to this software and to this forum, so please forgive me if my question has already been answered elsewhere.
I only discovered MakeMKV a few weeks ago and was very pleased to find that I could finally save my precious DVD collection — something I had tried in the past but without success due to the copy protection (which is an outrage. I own the DVDs but some of them have aged badly and don't run on my DVD player any more. I want to save the rest from demise). Now, however, I fear I may have come too late, as I seem unable to purchase a license. From what I have read here, it appears there is no way to contact the developer.
What a pity. I am an old man, and it took me quite some time to learn how all this works. If the future of the software depends entirely on one person, I cannot help but wonder if there are more reliable alternatives for ripping DVDs. I have tried using VLC Player, as suggested in other forums, but this did not work for me.

I am willing to pay for quality software, so I would be grateful for any commercial alternatives that offer the same capabilities as MakeMKV.

Thank you kindly for any advice,
Alfons

You can still use it. Just change the date on your PC to Pre-July 31,2025 before you start the program up. Temporary workaround until hopefully the developer releases a new beta key or provides new paid keys.

So yeah, i was ripping my DVD's also and then the software ran into the current situation, cannot continue can not buy license.

One tip for you as this is resolved, be carefull after ripping many DVD's continuously. I noticed after much of ripping (300+ discs) it went slower and got more issues. Seems that DVD drives don't like so much use :)
I replaced mine and continued without much errors after that.

Hope that this current isuue will be resolved soon so that we may continue saving our old physical media.
