I don't know what's going on. I like this product, but something isn't right here. I hope the developer is okay. My only question is why aren't the moderators helping us/keeping us updated?
I saw a post by one of the mods over the weekend in reply to someone else’s post. They know as much as we do at this point and can’t offer an ETA on when normal service will resume.

As I said in my post that the mods will not publish, this is not how to run a business and this is why you appoint an agent to operate and manage the software if you are incapacitated or unavailable. A pity, because it's a fine product. I just had 88 CAD refunded to me after three days of silence from the dev. That's quite a bit of money to me.

I agree with you. I'm sure we all think and feel the same way. Communication is key.

Keep in mind that under normal circumstances, from what I can tell he does. Based on the comments from others here, as well as comments from Mike in the past when this has happened (only once as far as I can tell), typically PayProGlobal usually has a stock of keys that they can send when people purchase one. It appears like Mike typically sends them batches of keys as they get low, thus there's usually no problem. Once before, there was an issue where it appears that PayProGlobal ran out of keys and didn't tell Mike or something because Mike seemed rather annoyed by the fact that they were suddenly telling people purchasing keys "hey, go email the vendor about this" and said something to the effect of "this shouldn't have happen and they shouldn't be telling people that". It seems as though whatever happened the last time was non-standard under normal circumstances.

As many people have said, what seemed to have occurred over the past couple days is very much out of character for Mike which likely means he's dealing with something personally that has suddenly required his full attention away from the upkeep here, and the timing of PayProGlobal running out of keys is likely just horrible timing coinciding with Mike being unable to respond as quickly as he typically would.

Ultimately, this is a product that is owned and developed by a single person and has been run as such smoothly for many years now. Give the guy a break and be patient. I'm sure that when he's able, he will be back, he will see to this mess just like the last time, and will likely try to do something to avoid it happening again in the future. Until then, give the guy a bit of slack as he's just as human as the rest of us.

Thank you for this information, I have been waiting for a license key since Friday 08/01, trying to give an "over the weekend " benefit of the doubt but that optimism was fading. I was super happy with the result of the temp license and excited to purchase and support this product. Knowing it's created and managed by one person is even more reason to support it. My assumption and hope is that he is on holiday and Paypro failed in their obligation to keep him informed. Hoping for the best for everyone involved.

I totally agree and very well said DavKas. Until that time I will continue to run my PowerShell script that changes the system time to 7/1/2025 and then opens MakeMKV with the temp key in NotePad for a quick copy and paste. I can burn what I need then close out. This is a hobby for my Plex server and isn't the end of the world. Hope Mike makes it back and maybe asks for another partner that would volunteer some time to help and provide backup.

I’m sorry, but as a customer service and retail manager for nearly 17 years, empathy has its limits. I have used this program for years and now I cannot. I paid for a service with my own money and received nothing in return.

Empathy is not deserved for poor business management, and this is reflective of poor management practices damaging to a product’s reputation. As I said, I hope the developer is well, but he’s not my personal friend, he is providing a digital goods and software service that as of today he has abandoned.

Subsequently, I am abandoning the software due to a poor customer experience.

This software has been run like this for literally more than a decade and this is the first instance where Mike has had to go dark for whatever personal reason where it's created a problem (that we even know of, as there could have been other times in the past where he's had to take leave away from the project and things continued running smoothly while he was gone, who knows). I'd call that a pretty stellar record of good business practice up to this point, if you ask me.

Hoping for the best for Mike as I have found great value in MakeMKV and do plan to buy a license if this all gets sorted out soon.

In the meantime, for those like me who don't want to change the system time on their host machine, running MakeMKV inside of a docker container looks like a solid option. You can then also use something like libfaketime in the container.

https://serverfault.com/questions/82463 ... -container
