Hello

Couple weeks ago I tried to flash a Buffalo BRXL-PUS6U3B-US, I confirmed it had the LG core (if I recall correctly - either way I confirmed it was one that could be upgraded. I followed the instructions here and it looked like it was successful.
In the end though nothing happened and the firmware stayed the same. Drive still works no problem.

I wonder why it didn't work, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, I think you are right, I don't exactly recall, but I don't think I did the enc command.

How do I determine the firmware version it has?
Drive Information
Manufacturer: BUFFALO
Product: Optical Drive
Revision: BN14
Serial number: MOBMC6A5827
Firmware date: 2121-06-21 13:33
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 68

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

I think I can manage the upgrade; therefore, I will let you know.

Hi. might have been missed in my last post
I was just curious how do I see what the current version of the firmware is? Doesn't seem clear from the makrmkv info.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

I hope this message finds you well.
Unfortunately, I mistakenly flashed my **ASUS BW‑16D1HT drive to firmware 3.10MK, thinking it would enable UHD compatibility. Now it fails with 0x82052400 when I try to flash via SATA.

I understand from the community (e.g. your guide in the "Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide") that I actually need to downgrade to firmware 3.02 to regain LibreDrive support.

Could you please assist me with:

1. A compatible UART-Flasher tool (flasher_uart.exe or devrecovery_uart.exe)

2. Advice on downgrading via UART (steps or timing)

I’m prepared to use my DSD Tech SH‑U09C adapter and follow the correct wiring and terminal steps.

Thank you so much for your help—this is purely for personal backup of UHD discs I own.

Best regards,
Michael

I've got an external slim LG drive that I thought was successfully flashed, but won't read any UHD.

Code: Select all

LG BP50NB40
SVC NB52 / 2024-11-29
Shipped with 1.03
This is where I've gotten it:
CD/DVD/BD all work fine, UHD doesn't.

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr0
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BP50NB40
Revision: 1.03
Firmware date: 2120-05-07 09:17
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 76

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
I'm assuming I've either missed a step or haven't got the right firmware?

Yeah, you've only done half the job. You need to do the cross-flash part now. Use the recovery method of SDFtool Flasher.
Cheers :D

I tried that but must have missed something, I've hired Billy above, so I guess he'll come to my rescue with an e-mail soon.

Thanks for your response!

Here is the current drive information from MakeMKV:

Drive Information:
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1HT
Revision: 3.10
Serial number: KL8K9OG0037
Firmware date: 2019-01-04 10:14
Bus encryption flags: 1F

LibreDrive Information:
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Hardware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 3.10
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)

No disc inserted.

I accidentally flashed the 3.10 firmware and would like to downgrade to 3.02 (or LibreDrive-compatible version) via UART. I have a DSD TECH SH-U09C adapter and I'm ready to follow the correct flashing steps.

Thanks again for your help!
