Road Trip UHD problem

Post by obitwan7 »

Sorry if this may be in the wrong spot, but I just went through 2 UHD versions of the movie Road Trip from Kino Lorber. Both discs don't play at all and i checked other UHD discs and they spin-up just fine, but it seems strange that 2 of them in a row have done this. I have 2 Pioneer BDR-212 optical drives from a seller here on these forums, so I know both drives are brand new & working properly.

Anyone else have any troubleshooting tips or ideas? I can try purchasing another from Amazon, but I've never had 2 happen the same way in a row before. I have tried cleaning them & it's crystal clear on the disc, no scratches or anything. Makes me wonder if there's a defect batch or something or if this movie is just plain incompatible with my drives, but I don't have another to test on. It plays fine on my blu-ray player. Hope to hear from someone.

So what happens? What does the log window say?
Cheers :D

The 2nd replacement was from Amazon and I managed to use a friend's optical drive and that worked. Doesn't do me good if I need to rip it again from my 2 drives, so I think those 2 discs were my Pioneer drives being incompatible somehow, but you would think that each drive failed for 2 of the UHD version and I didn't want to buy another one, unless I had to. Now that it's ripped I may keep an extra copy separately (just in case).

Just as an additional separate question. When new movies are released and we get that .tqz error. Why doesn't MakeMKV just rip the discs? I know it needs something to work and it starts working after around a week or so after release, but when i got those...I tried using DVDFab and that didn't need anything to work. I don't like DVDFab, but was curious about it. I submit those .tqz as well, but don't understand it.
