Are Pioneer drives *that* much better at ripping scuffed blurays?

I currently have an Asus BW-16D1HT drive that is Libredrive compatible; however, it has issues ripping even non-UHD bluray discs that are used or not in pristine condition. It can rip the one UHD disc I have, but that is in brand new condition.

So, is it worth it to get a Pioneer drive? It seems like they have shot up in price over the past couple of days, with the BDR-212V at around 150 dollars. I'm concerned with its ability to rip non-UHD blurays that are in used condition.

Does anyone have both the BW-16D1HT and a Pioneer drive? Has the Pioneer been able to rip a disc that the Asus drive can't? Thanks for any info.

So what Pioneer drive would you recommend of the ones that are still available? I'm not concerned about UHD compatibility right now since apparently all Pioneer drives should work in the future. An external model (like the BDR-XS07S) is tempting for the portability but I don't know how they are for longevity. There's also one that's top loading which might last longer. I can use a 5.25 internal drive as well but not sure what would be best for that size either.

Just post your Makemkv info for both drives when you get them. If you are lucky the XS07 has old firmware.
