[Solved] Star Trek TOS Steelbook Set - Copy Errors on Disc 4

Hello.

I was wondering if I have a single bad disc, or if it's a production error, and if anyone else is having the same issue. I can't return my box set, it's waaaaaay past the return date.

It's the 55th Anniversary Star Trek The Original Series steelbook collector's set.

It was brand new. All the discs copied fine except Season 3 Disc 4. The disc appears to be in immaculate condition. I see no noticeable defects. On both my slim drive and even my 5.25" LG drive, I get similar errors (although my slim drive gives up much earlier and doesn't even attempt a workaround.):

Abbreviated list of errors as many of them repeat, and it was the same type of errors for 8 of the 10 items.

I'm going to attempt to contact CBS directly, but I'm not going to have my hopes up.

Never had any luck getting the disc to read even following some tricks in a different thread.

Fortunately I was able to still get a refund, no thanks to CBS / Paramount. So I'm going to buy another set. Hopefully it's not the case for all of them.

Looks to have been that one set. I bought a used copy and the disc worked fine.

Looking closer at the original disk, it has this weird wavy pattern that isn't present in the other discs. I wonder if it was a manufacturing error on that single disc.

I actually ran into the exact same issue with my set. Season 3 Disc 4 looks perfectly fine visually, but throws read/copy errors on multiple drives. I tested it on both a slim drive and a full-size LG drive as well, and got similar results—so it doesn’t seem like a drive-specific problem.
At this point, I’m starting to suspect it might be a manufacturing defect affecting certain batches rather than just a one-off bad disc.
Has anyone else experienced this with the 55th Anniversary steelbook set, specifically Disc 4 from Season 3?
