Occasional picture with sound or no sound

I've recently installed MakeMKV 1.70 [darwin(x86-release)] for Mac. I've tried converting two dvd-disks and with one of the resulting mkv-files I got a reasonably steady picture with no sound, on the other I got sound but mostly black screen with an occasional flash of a picture. Is there a setting that I'm missing, or what could be the cause of this?

PS - Does it have something to do with this daspi kernel extension? (And what is that? - what does it do, and can it be uninstalled if it creates problems?)

Do you also have any thoughts on my problem with making mkv's with a constant picture and sound?
