Very New but not a rookie

I'm very new to MakeMKV and BD ripping. However, I have ripped hundreds of DVD discs with Handbrake. I have flashed my LG Bluray slim drive (model WP50NB40 Svc code NB50) I have spent hours on here and am completely stuck. First off, I have attached a snapshot of MakeMKV so you can review how the drive is seen in the program. I have also enabled "Enable Internet Access" When I put a bluray disc in the drive, it spins up but does not recognize ANY bluray disc. It says "no disc detected" Secondly, I am not getting any .tgz files being created. I am assuming that is because no disc is being detected and therefor no .tgz file. One step at a time I suppose. I'll deal with the HASHES later.

Does anyone have anything that may help? The drive doesn't recognize any Blu-ray disc.

I don't think you've flashed your drive to the correct end state for ripping.

The Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide, in the 'Recommended Firmware to flash for MakeMKV' section says: BP50NB40 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK then to > BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK

It seems you're half-way done with flashing.

I am having the same issue. Same LG model WP50NB40 but svc NB52. Tried to flash but only got a prompt with an error.

Also, I'm new to MakeMKV (also Handbrake).

The guide says:

NB52 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with enc > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with bootloader/full flash > BP60NB10 1.00_HBD

Attempted to flash WP50NB40 according to instructions, but will not read disc. Flashing to BP60 said successful but info did not change.

I registered for account here just to post the process I used to get it to work. I'm more of a lurker!

I actually stumbled upon a YouTube video that showed how he did it (Archades Games - You Need This Blu-Ray Drive For Your Preservation Efforts - just in case the link doesn't work below), and while it's not exactly the best, if you pause and look at the video, you can just about make out the steps he took. I tried it, and it worked perfectly. NOTE: I did try to follow the tutorial in the main thread here, but it didn't work for me. YMMV

Here are the steps:

My drive is a brand new recently purchased LG WP50NB40 / NB52 drive from amazon.com

Step 1 - Download and unzip "the all you need firmware pack.zip" file
Step 2 - Download and unzip the "SDFtool Flasher (v1.3.6).zip" file
Step 3 - Make a copy of your current firmware using the READ Firmware function
Step 3 - Flash using the WRITE Firmware function - "LG slim BP50NB40-NB50\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin" WITH ENCRYPTION CHECKED (you need to make sure the tick box has a green tick on it. This is super important, since some screen resolutions make this box almost invisible. the default is a red x)
Step 4 - Flash using the RECOVER Firmware function - "LG slim BU40N\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin" NOTE: This is the part that is different from the instructions I've seen on this site, and why I couldn't get it to work. You DON'T need to check the "include boot?" check box

If you have followed this, and didn't brick your device before starting it, UHD discs should start reading perfectly! Good luck!
