I tried with my phone quickly but couldn't capture it... I have to leave for work now, but tonight I'll try again with the DSLR camera

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
The Klein is great. It should have been paired with a high end spectro to profile it against your display. And they should have, at a bare minimum, had portrait displays g1 tpg for pattern generation. The lg internal tpg is not used by anyone calling themselves a professional because it can't be used to validate the calibration results for Dolby vision. You can't know if it was made worse or better without that!daffie wrote:
No, he did not use his own pattern generator. He only used the internal ones.
He had Klein K-10-A. Which is a meter of about 7. 000 dollars worth.
With that equipment he did an autocal for DoVi without looking at the black level and by only using the internal patterns from LG.
So, you can imagine I'm done with paying for "professionals" who think they can calibrate.
Happened also with a plasma I owned about 8 years ago.
Yes I'd be done, too. That's insane. Sorry you had that experience but I can attest that a good calibration can solve many issues and present an absolutely stunning picture on an lg oled. That's why I asked about reset's g5 and if he was going to calibrate it. But he's correct to wait until at least 100 hours as he's already seeing changes. Some good, some bad which is troubling.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I have to admit the picture quality for Dovi is already great out of the box.
But indeed I hoped a proper qualibration would make it even better.
Sadly that was not the case with my calibrator.
Edit:
I just looked up my conversation with him.
For the profiling he used " I1pro " and he also used a "murideo" signal generator.
No idea if that is any good or not?
Looking up some info about that I'm starting to doubt myself if he used his own patterns or not...
But the end conclusion is the same though: he did NOT check the black level because I know these patterns. And the black level was far worse than pre-calibration. Of these 2 things I'm 100% sure.

I saw falling diagonal lines on my c8 and c9 oled too a long time ago. Not sure if it is the same kind as the ones on the g5. Could you check your c2 again if you see those lines?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑ But I noticed something very bad. In dark scenes, DV has some sort of ''falling'' noise/grain with diagonal lines. Not sure how to describe it. It's very noticeable in the 10% grayscale file, and even at normal viewing distance.

Users and reviewers reported say they saw diagonal lines even in bright scenes since the g4. There's a reddit thread about the issue here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/s/lLTwRgQtyw
And also there's a thread about another issue. You may want to check for it on the g5: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/lg-g4- ... 65/page-12

I don't remember how it was on the C8, but on the C2, I definitely never noticed anything like this. I’ll check again once it’s set up in my bedroom.deadchip12 wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 4:04 pmI saw falling diagonal lines on my c8 and c9 oled too a long time ago. On my end, this only happens in dark scenes, and the 10% grayscale pattern looks terrible in Dolby Vision. At 20% and above, it's fine.
Thankfully, it’s much less noticeable in actual content.
At least now the DV black clipping is the same as the C2 for cmv4.0 and cmv2.9 is greatly improved. No way I could see 69-70 with cmv2.9 10 000nits and 4000nits MDL on the C2

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
does the lacking of DTS on the G5 affecting the ugoos/avr receiver? or only build-inn apps?

Not if the ugoos is connected directly to the AVR.
Strangely the G5 edid says DTS support but I tried and it doesn't work(at least in plex).

Murideo is fine. It handles everything it needs to depending on the model. The fact that he didn't use that to check the calibration is concerning, though. i1pro is not a professional level spectro. I have an i1pro3 and while it's good enough for my personal use I sure as hell wouldn't charge anyone for using it to calibrate their stuff. The Klein is certainly good though.daffie wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 12:52 pmEdit:

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
As you know this'll likely improve as you put some more hours on it. Once you hit 100 hours and calibrate it maybe most of this goes away with any luck.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 4:38 pmI don't remember how it was on the C8, but on the C2, I definitely never noticed anything like this. Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I'm curious how the black crush is on your G2? Is it like my C2 crushed in cmv2.9 and way worse with 4000/10000 MDL ?
Is it perfect in cmv4.0?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
It's not perfect, no but it's not bad. I haven't checked it in a year. It's actually on my todo list. The last time I calibrated it I didn't do it the normal way as I was having issues with a new laptop at the time and had to use software I don't normally use. It came out decent so I left it. I need to redo it when I have time. I can throw spears and munsil in this weekend which as I said I need to do anyway. But I've not had any real issues after calibration. It is definitely worse in cmv2.9, though.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 7:35 pmI'm curious how the black crush is on your G2? You got that picture of the greyscale 10%?

Really strange that this is better on my G1 uncalibrated.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 4:38 pmNo way I could see 69-70 with cmv2.9 10 000nits and 4000nits MDL on the C2deadchip12 wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 4:04 pmI saw falling diagonal lines on my c8 and c9 oled too a long time ago. I can see 69 faint on cmv2.9 4000 nits MDL.
And your test file called "cmv2.9 4000 nits MDL with Trims" I can see even 68 very faint.
I'm guessing something really changed starting from the c2/g2 series compared to c1/g1
