LG BU40N cant rip 4K disks after flashing

Post by Trolololman399 »

Hey there,

I just got my Verbatim 43888 (with a LG BU40N inside) with 1.05 firmware, and used the SDFtool Flasher v1.3.6 to flash BU40N 1.03 from the "all you need firmware pack" (HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin).

After flashing, all the correct Info showed up in MakeMKV (see picture), and it even ripped a Blu Ray just fine.
But when I put a 4K in and tried to make a full disk backup, it failed during the decription phase (see picture).

The same behavior occured even when I tried to rip a known good (and not as recently released) 4K, The Batman (2022).

Is the drive defective?
Do I need to restore the firmware dump I made before flashing the drive?

I don't know what version of MakeMKV you are using but try v1.17.9.
Cheers :D

Update: As you guessed, I used MakeMKV 1.18.0 the whole time, so even my other drive could not rip 4K discs.

Upon trying v1.17.9, everything magically worked, the same was true with v1.18.1.

Thank you for your time!
