Hello all. I am brand new to MakeMKV. Just trying to find my way around so please be patient if I am being stupid. Before I ask for help I just want to say what an amazing community and development team this is. A bunch of people are making all of this possible and I do just wanna say thank you. Now on to my personal issue. I am having trouble ripping any of my 4k UHD blu rays. I bought a Verbatim Ultra HD 4K CD DVD Blu-ray Writer. From what I was able to gather it is a BU40N. So I flashed the 1.03 firm ware onto it and the regular blu rays work. I was able to rip 2001 A Space Odyssey & Uncut Gems in their regular version but not the 4k UHD version. Every time I get this
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT PRESENT' occurred while issuing
From the research I have done I have seen that other forum posts say its a dead drive. The drive is brand new, got it in the mail today and the firmware was able to be flashed on 1.03 which is why I think I may be missing some part of the puzzle. Others on the forums have gotten theirs to work fine and I just want to get some advice to see if I missed a step and maybe I flashed the wrong file.
Hello, I'm also having the same issue. From what I can tell, the auto download of the hash keys is failing when the program goes to decrypt the disc.
I did get one disk to rip just fine but the other three will not.
I cannot find how to do this manually, as all roads lead to posts describing the auto download function that apears to be failing.
Thing is, I tried dvdfab as well and that doesn't work either.
I'm just a dumb layman so oppologies if I'm missing something blaringly obvious.
Do you see this message in the log? "Automatic HK downloading is disabled or failed." That would indicate that MakeMKV can't download the necessary keys.
