Hi! I've read a lot on this and the other thread wrt the PIONEER BDR-XD05 drive, and apparently many users are having success in making it read 4k UHD discs. Here is the drive info of my unit. Could you please assist me as well? Thanks in advance!

Did you try an UHD disc? It should work.

I am testing it out now. In an abundance of caution I had done nothing other than booting up makemkv and seeing if I could read the drive from the GUI flasher.

No. If it reads UHDs you are just fine.

No. Just never update your drive's firmware. You would ruin it.
