Sony BDX-S600U

Post by FreSh-KiSs »

Hello,

I have a Sony BDX-S600U BDXL player that I got a few weeks ago, brand new (this is crazy for 2011 manufactured product).
It works great for DVDs and Blu-Rays.

However, ULTRA HD Blu-Rays aren't recognized, the disc spins and stops. I do have a USB hub with an external USB-C power supply, but nothing works for UHD.

I found someone on AVForums who says he have the same player and the UHDs are working.

Does anyone have this player or can an expert give me confirmation of compatibility or not ?

That drive was built 4+ years before UHD was created. Doubtful it would be able to do it.

Hi,

I suspected a little, thank you for your answer.

Normally I receive today a Pioneer BDR-XD07TB I would ask the help of Coopervid, to know if the model is flashable or not.

Only flashable if MakeMKV shows the firmware is dated before 12/2022. Any Pioneer firmware after 11/2022 is not UHD compatible nor flashable.
Cheers :D

I think I'm very lucky considering the low price I paid, and the drive is brand new, it was only unboxed for the photos.

Manufactured in July 2021 and firmware date: 2020-08-20

Thanks.
