"No disc" with Gladiator II

#1 Post by Hallmat » Tue Mar 25, 2025 4:30 pm

First post here. And first problem.

I recently purchased a UHD copy of “Gladiator II”. I’ve ripped a lot of UHD movies before without problems. But this just doesn’t work. It goes from “Disc is being loading” to “No disc inserted” in a few minutes. The disc is not visible in Windows explorer. I downloaded the latest keydb.cfg, even in my language (Swedish). Placed it in the data directory. I did flash the drive, even though I had nog problems ripping UHD discs before that.

When nothing worked I was sure that there was something wrong with the disc so I sent it back to the retailer. Got a new one yesterday. Same thing. When I try the disc in VLC I get the message that “VLC is unable to open the MRL”.

I have downloaded the “MKB20_v77_Gladiator_II_307E.tgz” file. I feel that I’ve tried everything. Can someone help?

If the optical drive can't see the disc in the drive, then the software hasn't gotten to the decryption stage yet.

The first step is to gently clean the disc. Sometimes even brand new discs have an almost invisible residue on them that makes things harder for the optical drive. I like to use liquid dish soap, light pressure from my fingertip and plenty of warm water to wash the disc and rinse off the soap. I dry the disc with a can of air.

I tried that with the first disc. Didn't help. I was convinced then that the disc was faulty so I sent it back. Got a new one. Same issue. I'll clean this one too but there has to be something else going on here.
