When in doubt, it's probably safer to use generated DV rpu or watch in HDR10.

@RESET_9999
I just rewatched your "Transfer CMv 4.0 Dolby Vision from WEB streaming to Profile 7 Bluray disc" video and it only took you less than 2 minutes to extract the rpu from a movie? How is that possible? Mine took like more than an hour.

Hi Reset
Quick question regarding NVidia Shield Pro w.r.t v2.9 and v4.0
Resolve generates automatic L2 100,600,1000 v2.9 compatible trims
but the L8 100 trim equivalent in v4.0 is "empty" (set to 2048).
Will my Shield Pro take the L2 trims? or does it use the "empty" L8 trim.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
If your TV also supports cmv4.0, it won't use the L2 trims. The generated cmv2.9 L2 trims are here just to match the newer/updated cmv4.0 algo on cmv2.9 devices; you don't want your player/TV to use them.HotFudge wrote: ↑Sat Mar 15, 2025 6:38 amHi Reset

Hi Reset
Thanks for your answer
So the L8 trim is used to make manual adjustments to the L2 trims
which are used aslong as it is all in v4.0.
Do you also maintain a list of v2.9 and v4.0 devices and TV's

No, but any hardware made after 2019 should have the cmv4.0 engine

I just did the transfer of cmv4.0 for the movie The Iron Claw (2023). Frame difference is +574. Seems pretty high. Other than that, watched the movie and there wasn't any problem.

it doesn't matter how big the frame difference is. It's fine as long as your source scene cuts are in sync.deadchip12 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 15, 2025 4:28 pm@RESET_9999

I just watched your corelect configuration tutorial. Why is L6 set to Discard instead of Source?

L6 is useless

Hi ResetRESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 10:40 pmyes, L2 is always ignored with a cmv4.0 RPU + hardware, even without L8.
So does this mean in order to use my generated DaVinci Resolve RPU
I need to save it as v2.9 for it to use the L2 generated trims since
if I save the RPU as v4.0 it will just use the "empty" L8 v4.0 trim and
ignore the L2 generated v4.0 trims?
