Hi,
I picked up an LG BP50NB40 built in Nov 2024 to RIP and backup my UHD 4k collection. When I put a 4k disc into the drive, it does not even recognize the disc. I followed the instructions to enable LibreDrive, and in MakeMKV it shows as Status Enabled but still no dice.
BluRays and DVDs are read fine its just 4K UHD so is it that this drive does not support UHD?
Thanks for any guidance!

Re: LG BP50Nb40 - UHD Possible
An LG BP50NB40 is one that needs to be flashed twice. Look in the 'Recommended Firmware to flash for MakeMKV' section of the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide.
Re: LG BP50Nb40 - UHD Possible
Pretty sure I did it twice but will try again. I was a little confused what I needed to do different though on the 2nd flash?dcoke22 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 8:24 pmAn LG BP50NB40 is one that needs to be flashed twice. Also look at Marty's SDFtool Flasher viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896 If the SVC on the bottom of the drive is NB52, Marty's two step process (Write, then Recover) is the updated method. Watch the animation on that link as the Recovery step requires that you enter the binary you had previously Written in a pop-up and then the new binary. The firmware binaries are in Marty's "All You Need Firmware Pack" also given in the SDFtool Flaser link.808state wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 4:49 pmThank you for the help!Billycar11 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 1:41 pmdid you follow the guide below?

OK Thank You! I messed up the 2nd part of the process and wrote the 1.03 version twice rather than selecting the 1.00 as per the instructions. Now working great! Appreciate the help!
