I saw that you can achieve on some optical drives to enable UHD readability.
I'm tinkering, building and modifying things a little bit, if I can and I'm sure about what I'm doing.
So for learning purpose:
I was wonderring how to start and get into this process of getting the hardware driver out of the device and change the driver and flash it back so it is working. (I know that the device I have should be able to read UHD (if I was not miss reading some other posts there is an UHD friendly firmware))
The device is an Asus BW-16D1H-U Pro

I'm confident that it should work on this device, even if I have to disassemble it a little bit.
I can program C/C++ but on the hardware side my knowledge is ok by doing stuff by myself, a device like that is my first big project and because it is already done (viewtopic.php?f=16&t=32872&p=166737&hil ... ve#p166737) I'm confident to achieve it with patience and help.

Do you have some websites or books, where I could be able to get the knowledge of doing something like this by my own? And getting my feet wet in this topic?
Do you also have some advice on how to not brick a device?
Thanks in advanced.
Best regards
