Where Can I Find All Firmwares for WH16NS60?

Post by mandmdiet »

I bought a compatible LG UHD player a couple years ago to rip 4K movies. I never got it working and gave up on trying because I didn't have enough storage space for all of my movies yet anyway. It would detect the disc and start ripping it, but would always have file corruption errors and stop (this happened on any 4K disc I tried).

Two years later, I have plenty of storage room and decided to try this again. The firmware on the drive from flashing last time was 1.05 but these forums recommended 1.02. So, I installed 1.02 and the behavior was exactly the same. A week later now though and the drive doesn't even show that there is a disc in there when I insert one. Rebooting doesn't help. I'd like to try flashing 1.03, 1.04 and 1.05 again to see if I'll have success with any of them but I cannot for the life of me find these firmwares anywhere. Where can I go to find all of the firmwares available for my LG WH16NS60?

Thank you for your help!

Firmware is not your problem. Wash the discs. If still not readable get a Pioneer drive from a seller or post your country of residence to get a recommendation.

I'm sure you're correct about that but before throwing the drive away I'd like to try a few things. I would like to try other firmwares for this drive to see what results I get and I'd like to try cross flashing (I think that's what it's called?) to a firmware of a different manufacturer. I could do the second one now, but I'd rather try firmwares built for my drive first. Nothing may come of it but it only takes a few minutes to try and in the end if I throw it away anyway then at least the outcome isn't any worse.

As far as disc cleanliness, they are all pristine, no scratches, blemishes. The one I'm trying right now has never even been put in a player for watching.

So if you, or someone else knows where the full set of firmwares for WH16NS60 can be found I'd appreciate getting that information.

Thanks again

You are still on the wrong track. New discs have an invisible film that makes them hard to read. Therefore you need to wash the discs. If your drive is old maybe the laser lens is polluted and you can try a cleaning disc CD. If not, most likely the laser is dead which happened to many people even after just a year. To me as well.

Oh, interesting. I didn't know that. The drive was able to read this disc a few days ago though so I'm guessing the laser just went bad, as you said.

If I am getting a new drive, you recommend a Pioneer? Is there a thread where recommended drives can be found so that I can be sure to grab one that is likely to work well?

You can purchase from the sellers on this forum. If you want to purchase the least expensive but still a good drive you need to tell me your country of residence.
