Feature Request: Eject button

#1 Post by 120FPS » Fri Nov 15, 2024 2:33 pm

Hello,

I was wondering if adding a feature whereby the eject button on MakeMKV could open AND close. It would just make it easier for those using a computer in another room, instead I have to run over and do it manually. Not sure if it's possible but it would be very convenient indeed.

Thank you to the dev/s for all the work you have done.

So you're running into another room, place a disc into the open tray, then go back and want the software to close the tray instead of just giving it a slight nudge while you're there anyway? (never hurt my drive in many years so far, if someone wants to comment on that. Plus there's still the open/close button on the drive.)

The macOS version of MakeMKV has a couple of quirks (for me at least, it ejects the disk if I put a new one in sometimes), which means I have to run back and forth to open and close the drive for the same disc.

You can have an eject button in the menu bar when you turn on "Show eject in menu bar" in System Settings -> CDs & DVDs. That allows you open and close any attached optical drive.
