New LG WH16NS40 - 4K Deadpool and Wolverine

Post by PapaHomey2 » Thu Nov 14, 2024 10:13 pm

Hello all,
I've been using MakeMKV for years, but am a nubie at 4K.

I bought a new LG WH16NS40 after some research thinking could upgrade the firmware to WH16NS60, but I was only able to upgrade the firmware to WH16NS50. As I couldn't find the appropriate bin file. I got the 4K disk to be acknowledged in MakeMKV, but got quite a few errors:

Error 'SCSI error - HARDWARE ERROR:TIMEOUT ON LOGICAL UNIT' occurred while reading 'BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH14NS40 1.05 KL5O6R95243' at offset '1921024'

I could use some help. Do I need to upgrade the firmware to a different bin file? I would have just bought a WH16NS60, but this path was considerably cheaper.

There's no such thing as WH16NS50. There's WH16NS40 and WH16NS60. Flash it with WH16NS60 1.02-MK.

Also, clean the dsic before trying to rip it.
Cheers :D

I knew you were smart, but the pure simplicity of your solution is brilliant. I got my first 4K rip thanks to you.
Thanks,
