Babylon 5 The Road Home: Commentary without audio track

Post by germansnowman »

This is my first time ripping a Blu-ray disc, so apologies for any rookie questions or mistakes. Most of the titles were converted perfectly, except for the last and largest one. This is supposedly a commentary by the director etc., but all I see is a double-length video track (the video is in fact included twice) without an audio track. Could this be a manufacturing defect, or is it an issue with MakeMKV?

Hello - necrothread revival.

I had the same issue - here is what I have found.

The two largest tracks are about 10.6 and 17.3GB specifically. They rip out to 10.7GB and 16.4GB specifically.

If you select the audio commentary of the director and guests, it loads up the primary movie with the STEREO audio track (navigating the disc traditionally).

According to VLC, playing the 17.3GB track has no audio tracks and is twice the length.

If you use makemkv as the engine and load the disc directly in VLC, the behavior is the same as the output files. I do not think this is an makemkv issue. I believe it is a mastering error of the disk, as MakeMKV shows no audio tracks either for the 17.3GB file when selecting for export.

We are not losing anything by not having the 17.3GB file around.
