Some movies just compress very well, so I would guess it's fine. You could always run a 7-2 comparison with the script for your input vs. output encodes if you're unsure.

With CRF, the encoding quality is always the same regardless of the final bitrate/size. Some movies require more bitrate (grain, fullscreen, bright) and some others less( dark, digital, letterbox)

@RESET_9999 I was taking a look at your the grade/master doc to check whether the WEB RPU for the movie The Bourne Legacy was injectable or not.
L1 is fine, but it seems like PQ differs between sources. Wouldn't such RPU, if injected, change the original creator intent?

thats apple stupid static color reshaping. All their DV contents have this difference: red always looks brighter/orangish. sometimes it's less apparent.
this static metadata is removed when you convert the rpu to P8. Apple has no respect to the creator's intent, I did a video about it on my youtube channel.
Never watch iTunes P5 web-dl if you care about accuracy, always convert it to P8.

What is Dolby Vision 10.1 profile associated to AV1 codec? And who is using it?
Thank you.

Is it necessary to edit RPU mastering display metadata (not L6) when injecting, or is it better to leave it as it is?

never modify the RPU mastering display value (source pq) because dolby calculate the average pq and trims metadata quite differently according to the selected MDL.

reset_9999, late night devil is one of the few cm 4.0 movies. how is the PQ performance on the ugoos? you said that the conversation was oversatured at te time.

first you should verify your RPU because if it was done with makemkv , it's probably wrong.
CMV4.0 works great on the ugoos and the problem with ''the conversation'' bluray is the VERY strong brightening trims that make the image brighter than the HDR master.

Sorry I'm quite confused about this new makemkv issue. Which video framecount are you talking about?
Say I want to inject DV from web version to bluray version and already generated RPUs of both using your dovi_script, which framecounts do I have to look at here?

I'm talking about the original bluray folder that has authoring and muxing issues in MakeMKV like ''Late Night with the Devil''
