Hello,
I am writing this post because I have a question about LibreDrive and how it works with the Samsung SE-506 and LG BP40NS20 drives. My question is once LibreDrive is enabled on either one of these drives can they be used to rip UHD Blu-ray's? Below I attached two images containing LibreDrive information for both of these players. The Samsung SE-506, which is the drive I would prefer to use, states under the LibreDrive information category, "Status: Possible, not yet enabled," while the LG drive says, "Status: Possible, might be supported in the future, but not likely soon." Does this mean that once these drives are flashed they be use the rip 4k discs? If so, please let me know.
Thank you for your time.
Can the Samsung SE-506 or the LG BP40NS20 be flashed/modified to be able to rip UHD Blu-rays?

LibreDrive does not guarantee UHD, and a drive built before UHD was around is highly unlikely to support it just because the drive can do LibreDrive.
UHD came out in 2015, so any drive built before that is unlikely to handle it. The LG drive definitely won't, because the chip can't do it.

Coopervid, I read that forum prior to posting this question. My Samsung SE-506 drive was made in January 2016, but the drive platform is MT1939 not MT1959. Is the drive platform difference what is keeping this drive from being able to read UHD discs?
