So, I have been recording a full collection of deepspace 9 DVDs, and I regularly get this error message popping up:

"It appears that you are opening the disc processed by DvdFab/MacTheRipper which is known to produce damaged VOB files. Errors may follow - please use original disc instead."

These are original discs. I'm inclined to assume probably they were duplicated in a suboptimal fashion by whomever made them, but there is no better or more original disc to go and get. I would request as a feature that you keep the error popup, but keep processing the disc anyways instead of halting that and waiting for me to respond to the prompt. It slows down my workflow of churning through the discs if I have this extra step that I have to manually respond to for every disc.

Necroing this thread for anyone encountering it down the line. The error you're seeing is correct. They only look like original discs. You have a counterfeit set where they used a ripping program then re-encoded it to fit on a cheaper single-layer DVD. This came up recently on Reddit, specifically around Deep Space Nine:
