Hello!
I noticed something interesting.
I have some PAL 2 DVDs, especially those from TF1 Videos / CBS DVD, where it says on the box "These DVDs have copy protection.", but when I open them with MakeMKV, no copy protection technology is detected.
On top of that, these disks are very fast to rip; my drives were able to read the discs at full speed.
Was this sentence added on the box just to "scare" people off? Is that common?
No copy protection detected even though the DVD box says there is one

Where are you expecting MakeMKV to mention the copy protection? I just pulled out a DVD to test, and there is no mention of the several copy protection mechanism on the disk in the MakeMKV output... It just removes them.

Re: No copy protection detected even though the DVD box says there is one
That usually is the case, when there is no copy protection. Your picture says it's the eight disc in the set. Is it maybe a bonus disc? Maybe they didn't thought the bonus disc alone wouldn't need a copy protection, only the discs with the series on them.
Re: No copy protection detected even though the DVD box says there is one
There are actually 12 DVDs in this set, and none of them have copy protection, according to MakeMKV. But the box states the opposite
I have numerous sets like that, and they are all from TF1 Videos / CBS DVD. All legitimately bought in hypermarkets.
Re: No copy protection detected even though the DVD box says there is one
How does the cover side looks like? and the data side? Maybe these are bootleg DVDs, the quality of the pictures usually isn't optimal then.

I think I added the information too late in my previous message, but these sets were legitimately bought in hypermarkets, and they are all from the same "publisher" (TF1 Video / CBS DVD).
I just noticed that there is a Macrovision logo on the boxes. The set of my screenshot was commercialised in 2007.
