How to Keep Output Name Same as Input Name?

#1 Post by NefariousEconomy » Thu Nov 11, 2021 6:49 pm

Hello, this may have been asked already but I am curious if there is any setting where I can make the "Output File" name the same as the "Source File" name. For example if I convert a movie the name when it finishes is title_t00.mkv. I have to manually rename the MKV to the actual name of the movie I converted. Is there any way to prevent this or am I doomed to rename all files it outputs?

Thanks for any and all help!

Default output file name template
Changing names with Expert mode enabled

Remember that not all disks have the metadata to give a file name automagically.

Use this setup, works for me.
Start MakeMKV
View -> Preferences (Opens MakeMKV Preferences box) -> Advanced
Set Output file name template to {NAME}{title:+DFLT}
Apply -> Close MakeMKV and reload

I read all the posts I could find but none have answered my exact question. I have a lot ISOs I wish to convert. I'm willing to do them one at a time for now so no batch instructions please. Say I want to convert TestFileName.iso to .MKV. I've enabled Expert mode and changed the output filename to {NAME}{title:-NAME} under the Advance tab. I keep getting 'Title.mkv' instead of 'TestFileName.mkv'. I am obviously missing something. Any help is appreciated.
