Is there a way to flash this back to the latest firmware that supports Libredrive whether 1.03 or 1.02?

Will support for Pioneer drives with upgraded firmware eventually be supported? Unaware I'd lose compatibility, I upgraded my BDR-212UBK from 1.02 to:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-212U
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: TKDL001706WL
Firmware date: 2023-08-01
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F01
Firmware version: ID58

No disc inserted

At least I still have my LG drives for backup.

No.
Besides having my LGs for 4K UHD Blu-rays, I still have this Pioneer for ripping DVDs and HD Blu-rays. So it's not like I can't use my Pioneer at all. And maybe after years, someone will either come up with a way to flash it backwards or add Libredrive to it with newer firmware so I can use it for 4K UHD Blu-rays again..

We are waiting since then but it looks like Pioneer did a very good job regarding the encryption of the firmware.

My new BD-RW BDR-X13U has just been delivered to me. And this is what I see in MakeMKV:

Code: Select all

Laufwerksinformation
OS-Gerätename: \Device\CdRom0
Aktuelles Profil: BD-ROM
Produzent: PIONEER
Produkt: BD-RW BDR-X13U
Revision: 1.03
Serienummer: [redacted]
Firmware-Datum: 2022-12-12
Markierungen der Bus-Verschlüsselung: 1B
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS9401
Firmware version: ID29

Disk-Informationen
Label: UHD_WWY
Zeitstempel: 2020-09-03 09:46:27
Schutz: AACS2.0/C v72
Datenkapazität: 58.48 Gb
Disk-Typ: BD-ROM UHD
Anzahl der Layer: 2
Markierungen der Bus-Verschlüsselung: 80
Does it take long for it to be "enabled" or should I return this one and try to get a older one somewhere else?

Well, we've been waiting a year and a half so far and still no closer to drive's with firmware after Nov 2022 being enabled....

Pretty much all drives from retail stores will have firmware that is too new. The only way to get a compatible Pioneer drive is to purchase from a seller on this forum.
Cheers :D

I received a BDR-S13E-X with firmware before December 2022 (MFD 08-2022) and I definitely don't want to lose it.
Is there a risk that a firmware update will be installed automatically by Windows or driver updates, or is the only rule: Never touch a firmware update, and everything will be fine?
