help needed with error on libredrive enabled drive

Post by SafetyThird » Sat Aug 31, 2024 5:35 pm

Just taken delivery of my verbatim 43888 drive. It recognised the 4k disk and shows that the drive is libredrive enabled but when I open the disk is throws the following error at me.

I'm using a MacBook Pro running Monterey 12.7.5, which is as up to date as this computer can go.

MakeMKV is 1.17.6 on the first day of it's 30 day demo.

Are there any additional files I need beyond the makemkv as it has been downloaded?

Many thanks.

drive is not fully passed through is my guess

do new macs have sandboxing? or are you running the intel mac version on an arm mac?

Hi Billy, thanks for the reply, I appreciate the help. What do you mean by 'not fully passed through please'?

Does makemkv try to 'phone home' to download a file from somewhere when it first runs to get any necessary codes and, if so, is it possible to download that file directly and put it where it needs to be on the Mac?

The MacBook is an intel model from late 2016.

I'll try doing the same thing on my gaming PC and see if that makes any difference.

OK, this is now fixed. I plugged the drive into my gaming rig and had a couple of issues with it with the 4k disk. Then I put a regular blu-ray in and that worked fine. After that I put the 4k disk in and is read it perfectly.

Plugged the drive back into my Mac, put a regular blu-ray in and it saw that fine, then put the 4k disk in and now it's seeing that fine. I'm going to run a backup to check it rips correctly and will post back.

It did post a message saying Java Runtime Environment was necessary which it couldn't find because it's not running on my Mac, it doesn't seem to have affected anything so I'm just running the disk backup to see if that works.
