makemkv 1.17.7

#1 Post by stevenm56 » Tue Aug 27, 2024 8:32 pm

I've been using MakeMKV for many years and haven't had any issues. I just started using version 1.17.7 and notice it taking longer to create episodes. The "Saving To MKV File" seems to pause, sometimes the time remaining goes up instead of down. Is there something I can do to improve this or is it the nature of the beast. TIA

d00zah was helping with another issue and that turned out to be a noise issues when creating the mkv. I think I resolved it by changing the drive to powered through usb.

An update. I decided to purchase another DVD Blu-ray drive to see if that's the issue. However, it's not any better. I've having to copy the dvd to the hard drive in order for it to rip the files. Nothing has changed on the pc and I turned off all antivirus. I even let Makemkv run overnight to see if it would work. I even bought a replacement disk for season 4.5 of Eureka to see if it was a bad disk. Anyone else experiencing this. TIA

Hard to say without seeing any logs or knowing your operating system. If you are registered, then go to https://www.makemkv.com/download/old/ to download and test an earlier version.

Here's the latest log file. I didn't past the entire file as it's huge. However, I erased the old one and started ripping a disk I knew would stall. I am able to rip the disk by first copying the video directory to the hard drive and ripping from there.

Also, thinking it might be the DVD reader I purchased anew one which does the same. The disc itself plays fine in the reader and on the TV dvd player. Below is the log from the dvd rip. Whatever the issue I installed the older version with the same result. TIA

Here's a share of the file on my Synology: https://stevenm56.synology.me:6006/sharing/nDbaob13j

So it's not 1.17.7.

Maybe try just copying individual titles. Sometimes DVD's print defective titles to hinder copying. It would be hard to squeeze more than three 45 minute titles on a DVD.

Without makemkv how do you tell which file in VIDEO_T5 on the disc is the one you want?
