WP50NB50-NB52 Non-MK?

Post by dbrown1986 » Wed Aug 14, 2024 12:05 am

I bought an LG WP50NB50-NB52.
I have successfully cross-flashed it to BP60NB10 v1.0.
It is reading UHD discs without issues and still burns.
MakeMKV and ImgBurn have no issues reading the data to MKV/M2TS/ISO.

However, I would enjoy being able to use this drive in other programs without any issues.
Is there BP60NB10 v1.0 FW that is Non-MK, or another Non-MK alternative that would work
with my drive and allow UHD reads?

Cheers!

Nope. You should use the recovery option of SDFtool flasher to cross-flash it to BU40N 1.00 firmware. Then you can use any other software. This is why I always recommend BU40N 1.00 firmware for these drives, not BP60NB10 firmware.
Cheers :D

Here's what I have downloaded:

I'm guessing DE_LG BU40N_1.00.bin is the ideal binary firmware file? This firmware will read UHD as well?

Yes and of course. That is what I flash to all slim LG drives I sell.

So it appears to be stuck on HL-DT-ST BD-RE BP60NB10 1.00, I am trying to jump direct to DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin and it does not appear to want to do it. The green LED is not blinking when it says that it is flashing.

You can't flash to it directly. As I said previously, you must use the recovery process of SDFtool flasher.

Well, then I may be missing something. I am using the recovery option, but its not doing anything.

Selecting DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 and writing, then I select DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 again and use recover drive, and it does not take.

When I originally flashed the BP60 fw, the LED blinked a little when I did the recovery, and it took that fw without issue. It's not doing that during the BU40N recovery.

Is there a middle-man firmware I can use, to go from BP60NB10 > ? > BU40N?

Read the instructions!!! There's even a gif showing you how to do it!

Click recovery, in the popup window, select the current firmware, so BP60NB10 1.00-MK. Then in the firmware slection drop down box select BU40N 1.00 and click START.
Cheers :D

Got it done. Thank you.

The only guide I was using was the Ultimate UHD Guide here in this sub-forum. I didn't see any GIF in the initial guide, but thank you nonetheless.
