Yes I know, so I tried that, but the flasher doesn’t work. Just stays at 0% forever. I found a couple different ones that guides and people on here say *should* work, but none of them do.

How is the drive attacked. Internal - SATA? External - USB? Some SATA > USB adapters/enclosures have problems passing commands to the drive.

First I tried USB3, but I realized this might cripple it a bit for obvious reasons, so I connected it directly to a PC and a Mac through SATA - not at the same time, obviously.

Just to cover bases, assuming Windows, you've met the requirements?

- Windows 10 64 bit version

- MakeMKV v1.15.1 (or higher) installed

- .NET Framework 4.7.2 **only for SDFtool Flasher v1.2.0**

On the left-hand panel, the following are checked?

- MT1959 Platform

- Encrypted Firmware (v/1.05 is encrypted)

On the right-hand pane, 'WRITE Firmware' is checked?

On a mac, using cli, 'enc' must be included in the command line.

Not sure what an MT1959 platform means, if that means I need an SGX, well I tried it on a 4th gen Intel machine too and that did the same thing.
I wasn’t even aware I could patch on a Mac, the softwares I have only run on Windows.
Yea, write firmware is checked. Also I tested read firmware, and when it worked at all it gave me a 74KB file which I don’t think is correct.
I’m assuming the app wouldn’t even start if I didn’t meet the .NET requirements, but yes I have that version and many others installed.
I updated MakeMKV a week ago or so before starting this stuff since it wouldn’t even let me use it anymore.
And yes, Windows 10 64 bit.

Ok I just looked up what MT1959 is, and I don’t know what that has to do with my drive or my machines.

How was the drive attached when you got this info? Based on it:

...

Drive Information
OS device name: G:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE WH16NS40
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: [redacted]
Firmware date: 2120-05-06 14:40
Bus encryption flags: 17

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 1.05
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)

No disc inserted
the 'SDFtool Flasher' (a front-end for the native MakeMKV cli tool) needs to detect/report that in order to correctly flash the drive.

You can flash from the cli on a mac per instructions in the 1st post of the guide.

I have the flasher, the problem is it doesn’t work, as I think I stated before, that’s the problem.

This is gonna be a potentially dumb and obvious question but, before you're attempting to run the flasher, you made sure your disc drive is empty and fully closed, yes?

Hi everyone, same problem here...

I have a newly purchased LG WH16NS40... less than a week ago...

Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE WH16NS40
Revision: 1.05
Serial number: [redacted]
Firmware date: 2120-05-06 14:40
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 64

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 1.05
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)

No disc inserted

disc drive is empty and fully closed

MakeMKV is on in the background

I ran the " SDFtool Flasher v1.3.5", selected the right BD-RE, obtained a green check at both MT1959 and Encripted software, selected the right file.bin and obtained (after some work - after I hit start):

"Command produced error code 0x82052603"

please help!

Try flashing the correct firmware: WH16NS60 1.02-MK
Cheers :D

Of course. It wouldn’t try to flash at all if it wasn’t. This is still a problem, to be clear, but we are returning the drive since it’s basically useless to us with not being able to rip 4K blurays.
