Recommendation for best (most reliable and versatile) LibreDrive for 2024?

I currently am on my second ASUS BW-16D1HT, and it's starting to break down in the same way the first one did: After about 80-100 rips, it is doing excessive seeking, drive spinup/down, etc. so I guess I've "used it up" just like the first one. (The previous one died so hard it took a disc with it, gouging grooves into the disc and ruining it.)

I want a reliable internal SATA drive for BD and UHD rips. Ripping speed is not my primary concern; reliability is. Based on reading this thread, Pioneer is the best for this? I'm in the USA, is there a recommended model as of this posting (July 2024) I should get?

Yes, Pioneer drives are far superior readers/writers. Your best bet to get one with compatible firmware is to get one from a seller on this forum.

it was never possible to flash a pioneer yourself it was buying it with the pre 12/22 fw or getting the fw professionally flashed
the 212v still seem to come with old fw but who know for how long
but you will need to email me to have it flashed see below for details
