Ordered two Pioneer BDR-S13U-X drives, received them promptly, popped them into Vantec NST-536S3-BK enclosures, and cruising along with no issues so far. Communication was easy and excellent, highly recommended.

First time posting - registered just to provide this feedback. GREAT service on a request to flash my own Amazon-purchased drive. Responses were much faster than expected (had a few back and forth emails to get the details worked out) and still managed to take care of it in a single day. Instructions were clear and things worked exactly as expected. I'm up and running to read Ultra HD drives. Couldn't be more satisfied. I'm pretty technically proficient, but just didn't want to invest time figuring out the flashing process. So glad that was my decision - this was the best $$ I've spent in a while!

Most likely the 212 but not guaranteed best to get one from Asmcom as your not in the USA

I've been using MakeMKV for years and finally decided to make the jump to UHD for my Plex collection. I'm writing my first forum post to sing my praises for Billy.

I sent an email about purchasing a pre-flashed Pioneer BDR-S13UBK, and within hours received a detailed response with clear instructions about how to move forward. I submitted my payment via Zelle, responded to the email with my shipping info, and the drive shipped out the next day with USPS tracking information.

The shipment arrived four days later (it shipped over the weekend, otherwise it would have been here sooner), carefully packaged with bubble wrap (days of entertainment for the 5-year-old) around the original box, packaging, and all accessories. Everything was absolutely brand new.

I put the drive in the recommended Vantec NST-536S3-BK NexStar DX enclosure, plugged it into my M2 MacBook Air via a compatible USB-C cable, and was immediately off-to-the-races backing up my personal copy of Dune: Part Two. Handbrake slurped up the resulting backup files just fine and produced a perfect AV1-encoded output.

I've since backed up a dozen UHD movies with this setup and it's been flawless. I'm technically savvy and could probably have purchased and flashed a drive on my own, but I didn't want to gamble with purchasing a drive with un-flashable pre-installed firmware, and my free time is precious and limited.

I'm so happy I reached out to Billy, and I'm so happy with this drive.

I've been a paid user of MakeMKV for quite a while, using the blu-ray drive in my desktop, but that drive hit its limits with UHD disks. I write software for a hardware company, and like a lot of people on this board maybe could have figured out how to do this myself, but given the efforts of Pioneer and others to keep me from doing that, I was glad to remove that "maybe" from the equation.
As for the transaction, Billy is admirably clear about what he needs to complete the sale and things happened with all good speed. I'd recommend buying from him (I bought the flashed BDR-S13UBK, fwiw, and it's working well).
I'm using the Vantec enclosure recommended elsewhere here, and am happy with that as well. Works a treat with my Mac mini; plug and go.

I bought a flashed Pioneer BDR-213/2213 SATA 5.25 SATA drives from Billy. He shipped it incredibly fast and it works even better than advertised. I was ripping my 4K discs as soon as I had it set up in an enclosure. Thanks Billy!

I just got a BDR-213/2213 from Billy. He is not wrong about about it being better than the LG drives. I had around 7 discs I couldn't complete with the LG and since I got it today I've ripped 2 of those successfully (recent James Cameron UHDs). I assume I'll get all of them now. That alone was worth it.

2 purchase experiences from Billy! the first was a S13-UX back in April, and it was a breathe of fresh air vs my stubborn and unpredictable LG NS40 and NS60.. Billy was awesome explaining the capabilities of each drive and what to expect out of other drives I have had or may end up acquiring. Pricing is very reasonable for what you're getting. I was so happy with the purchase experience and consistency of the Pioneer that I of course picked up an S13-UBK not even a couple weeks later from Billy. Great communication all around. Hundreds of rips and the Pioneers are still whisper quiet and consistent.

When my LGs won't do it, the Pioneers pick up the slack. Even my newer LG BP50s fail to rip sometimes and the Pioneers will always rip perfectly. If they fail, it's a disc problem. One last 3rd praise for Billy- I had an issue flashing one of my BP50s and he came through shortly with a fix.. What a lifesaver. I'd recommend Billy's services ANYTIME hands down if you're in the USA!
