ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
I recently purchased the ASUS BW-16D1X-U with the intention of connecting to my home theater to play UHD discs I have purchased. Found this site.
Drive Information
OS device name: H:
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1X-U
Revision: A105
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2120-12-02 11:14
Bus encryption flags: 1F
LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
I used the SPF to create a firmware dump. Which MK firmware should I use to flash this drive?

SDFtool Flasher
Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
Great thanks! Appears to have worked. Can read 4K Disc
But at 100%, SPF flasher popped up an error: 0X82062900
I'll also be using this disc to back up files on MDisc. Any links to reasonably priced 128GB MDisc? LOL

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
Hi,
First post after lurking for a long time (and a bit "stoned" with information overload).
So better to ask ...
Drive Information Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1X-U
Revision: E113
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2020-07-21
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 20
LibreDrive Information Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8F00
Firmware version: ID76
No disc inserted
Desktop USB version
Host: MacBook Pro
OS: macOS Monterey 12.7
Would the flasher work with this configuration or is it Windows only?
Just to avoid any misunderstanding: all 4K UHD disks I have are legal and purchased by me.
Thanks for your help.

The drive platform is Pioneer, not the MT1959 platform that's referenced in the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing GuideMacguy wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 10:14 amHi,

I do not know if Billycar11 sells a flashing kit for that particular drive or if it can be made to work for 4K UHD ripping.

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
Thanks to both of you for a quick reply.
I guess I will need to look around for a Windows pc.
Buying a flashed drive from the US would be too expensive (import duties, customs clearance fees, VAT and shipping costs would amount to anything between 50% and 80% of the US selling price).

Thanks for the info.
The ASUS drive has been returned and I contacted Asmcom to order a "friendly" Pioneer drive.

Re: Asus external drive BW-16D1H-U PRO: UHD flash
Apologies for jumping on this post if it isn't allowed.
I was thinking of purchasing the ASUS BW-16D1H-U Pro as I need an external drive to Rip CD's and Blu-rays and I noticed this post about flashing this drive to read and rip UHD discs, I just wanted to know if that was possible?
Many thanks in advance.
Re: Asus external drive BW-16D1H-U PRO: UHD flash
This ASUS external drive can contain either a Pioneer drive or a LG type drive. You will only know when it arrives. Pioneers ar the far better drives. LG drives can be flashed with the publicly available flasher.FrancisBlack79 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 9:28 pmApologies for jumping on this post if it isn't allowed.

Thanks for the reply Coopervid
Fairly new to the 'UHD friendly drive' scene so still learning!
Basically I'm looking for a drive that I can rip CD's, Blu-Rays and UHD Discs for backup with a high success rate but struggling to find what would be best to buy here in the U.K. The drive itself would be connected to a HP Omen Laptop running Windows 11, any advice would be appreciated or if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Thanks again
