You can buy the Verbatim 43888. It's UHD ready but it is power hungry on USB and the enclosure electronics seems not to be the best quality.Wad Mabbit wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 2:38 pmHi,

OK, so NOT the Verbatim 43888
What about the BDR-XD08TB (flip)
or BDR-XS07B-UHD, BDR-XS07TS, BDR-XD08EMB-S?

No, none of those Pioneer drives are UHD compatible as they all come with too new firmware that disabled libredrive and UHD readability.Wad Mabbit wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:07 pmOK, so NOT the Verbatim 43888

Yes, both are good. The BP50NB40 cross-flashed with BU40N firmware works the same as the Archgon for UHD ripping.Wad Mabbit wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:12 pmOop, forgot to ask about the Archgon MD-8107S-U3-UHD and the LG WP/BP50NB40 (BU40N)

Total noob here.
Looking to get DVD and BR rips for my digital collection and getting dead-ended on some cranky discs while using a a Verbatim-brand BDR-UD03.
From a long time using MakeMKV and some moderate research outside this forum it sounds like there's just some discs that don't play nice and possible upgrade to my drive might catch a few of them?
Working in windows and from the US. Sadly don't have a slot in my tower for an internal drive so I'd either have to just get an external or rig up an enclosure of some kind to work with an internal drive if that's a thing.
Recommendations?
