Use .m2ts but no index.bdmv?

Post by Atamido »

I'm wondering if there is any way to use a .m2ts file by itself without the rest of the disc structure. I tried using tsMuxeR GUI to create a Blu-ray disk, but when I try to use it with MakeMKV, it says
MakeMKV v1.4.6 beta win(x86-release) started
Opening files on harddrive at M:/video/
AACS directory not present, assuming unencrypted disc
File 00000.mpls was added as title #0
Operation sucessfully completed
Saving 1 titles into directory C:/Video/UNNAMED_DISC
Failed to save title 0 to file C:/Video/UNNAMED_DISC/title00.mkv
0 titles saved, 1 failed
Starting with just the .m2ts file, I can't find a way to get it into an MKV.

Looks like to tried to just striaght copy the m2ts file with out decoding the bluray 1st. You need to decode the bluray first

I don't have the Blu-ray, just the .m2ts file. Is there anything I can do with that?

So is it normal for MakeMKV to fail with an ISO created by tsMuxeR?

1. tsMuxeR does not create ISO files only the sturcture of a bluray.
2. tsMuxeR does not decrypt the Bluray. So you can NOT directly use tsMuxeR on Bluray without something in between them decrypting the bluray, for example "AnyDVD HD". Because if you try too you will end up with a very large USELESS file with nothing but garbage in, as it has nothing but scrambled video, audio and etc stuff in it. And no you can not fix it with out "re-ripping" the m2ts file the right way.

3. Why are you trying to use MakeMKV on this file, I'm assuming it is be of #2. meaning you have the large m2ts and it will not play in or on anything ?

I have the .m2ts file, decrypted, and it will play fine, but I want to mux some other subtitles with it. I use it as input with tsMuxeR to create the Blu-ray structure, and it will play fine from there too. But MakeMKV fails to read it.

MakeMKV needs at least M2TS and corresponding CLPI file. All other files are optional - index.bdmv must be present but its contents does not matter.

I've been doing some testing with other ISOs, and it always fails. It seems to show >100MB for the Output size, but then fails. There isn't any file in the output directory.

Just to clarify, yes the ISO and other files to have the 0001.clpi, index.bdmv, and 00001.m2ts but MakeMKV still fails. I can always plan the .m2ts directly, and there is no encryption, but I haven't been able to get MakeMKV to work on a single .m2ts file yet.

This is still my problem, and there doesn't seem to be any changes with MakeMKV for almost a year. :(

I have a directory structure for an unencrypted Blu-Ray, and I can play it fine, but I would like to mux it into MKV to add subtitles. Unfortunately it always fails with the above mentioned error.

This is the directory structure I have:
