Longshot with Pioneer BDR-209D

Post by nw86281 » Tue May 07, 2024 6:06 pm

This might be a bit of a long shot, but I have a Pioneer BDR-209D made in December 2013. Below is the info from MakeMKV. I have a feeling this drive may be too old to flash to be able to read 4K discs. Can anyone confirm if it is too old or if it is possible to flash it and enable it to read UHD discs?

I'll post here instead of creating a new thread -- My ASUS drive gave up the ghost, but I have this drive in my headless Mac Pro that I retired last year:
Drive Information
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-209D
Revision: 1.34
Serial number: QJDL160881WL
Firmware date: 2016-04-25
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8600
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-209
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.34/ID61
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

Disc Information
Disc is being loaded
Any chance this can be flashed -- and flashed on a Mac -- as I would prefer to save this Pioneer, even though I'll likely pick up a cheap LG later.

If you have access to a Windows PC there is hope.
