I currently use the latest version of MakeMKV on my Pop!_OS machine; this is my primary location to backup my discs. However, every now and again I get a disc (usually with some visible defects) that can't be read, or even more rare simply opened, by my drive (Flashed Asus BW-16D1HT 3.10) on this machine. In almost every instance, I can then plug the drive into a 2014 MacBook Pro and the disc will be read (and even fight going very slow, if necessary) to make backups successfully. The version of MakeMKV running on the Mac is 1.16.7.
Settings (normal and advanced) are the same on both machines.
What could be causing the Mac to be able to read, or even open, discs that the Linux machine cannot?
Any help would be appreciated as I don't want to keep this old Mac around as long as possible
