Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
the player must support it otherwise it fallback to the cmv2.9 bloc. This is why the ugoos is a big deal, only device that support both CMV4.0 and P7 FEL
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Ugoos AM6+, Ugoos AM6B+ and Minix U22-XJ
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
thanks. So are P7 discs being released that have CMv4.0 metadata in addition to the 2.9, even though UHD players like the Oppo 203 and Panny 820 don't support 4.0 ?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 9:37 pmthe player must support it otherwise it fallback to the cmv2.9 bloc. Having run the Ugoos for a week now I've really been impressed by its DV playback of my P7 mkv files, my Panny 820 is going to be gathering dust from now on.

Same Ugoos experience here. I thought I'd abandoned my AM6+ forever, but latest CoreElec certainly revived this machines usage.
Enjoying DoVi like never before.

Yes, its still rare but it seems there's more cmv40 bluray release lately.
Also, when the bluray is only MEL cmv2.9, I take the cmv4.0 rpu from web streaming.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I know you said at one time you were taking your SDR 1080p and reencoding as HDR10 with DV you made IIRC - what about DV4 (SDR I think) - you ever look into making that? I can't even recall any real world examples found, so prob not, just asking.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 10:47 amYes, its still rare but it seems there's more cmv40 bluray release lately.

Well P4 is a dual-layer format and I don't think there's any public tool that can do that.
Also, the EL probably would need to be graded to HDR otherwise that would be just SDR-100nits in a DV/HDR container.

RESET_9999 or someone else who might know..
I have a Sony A9G 77" OLED from 2019, i used to be into this discussion and DV development for like a year or two after getting the TV.
Not so much anymore, so im trying to read up.
As far as i can remember, this TV does NOT have player-led (might be wrong)
Is there a point in me upgrading my SHIELD to Ugoos who can play FEL?
Will there be a difference on my TV?
Im guessing yes, cause its the Ugood doing the encoding, and my TV just showing it, yes?
Thanks guys

Shield suffers from red push, so pretty much any other option will be a better option.

Yes, The Shield cannot decode FEL so the brightness metadata will be wrong for some bluray. Plus the Shield has tons of problems.
The Ugoos is a must-have if you want the best quality/accuracy/stability without restriction and they just added BDMV and ISO support.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
it supports both
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
maybe a irrelevant question, but i'm curiuous. does the ugoos plays also ts and mp4 in DV?
the bdmv/iso support is very interesting. so you can scroll without problems in the menu of the movie? and the movie picks automatically DV if you start it? in this case the chinoppo is not interesting anymore. ugoos have owned the market.

BDMV support is great, just got my Ugoos and installed the stable CoreELEC 21.0-Omega release.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 2:32 amYes, The Shield cannot decode FEL so the brightness metadata will be wrong for some bluray. Plus the Shield has tons of problems.

However, when I play BDMV or .ts/m2ts dual track, double layer DV content, the video only plays in HDR, not DV. Do I miss something, maybe?
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
DTDL support is under active development so it is only available in the nightly branch.
In addition, the CoreELEC team today announced DTDL support for mp4 and mkv as well (available probably in the next nightly version).
