I bought a copy of Days of Future Past on Blu-Ray. It will not load. I went to the library and checked out a copy and it is doing the same thing. I get a message about loading HK then I get this over and over...
The source file '/BDMV/STREAM/01952.m2ts' is corrupt or invalid at offset 0, attempting to work around
It has been working fine and I have the most recent version for MacOS.
Days of Future Past
Re: Days of Future Past
Probably the optical drive is having trouble reading the disc.
The standard advice is to gently clean the disc and try again.
If the drive is powered by USB, it might not be getting enough power. Make sure both USB plugs are plugged into high powered ports.

Re: Days of Future Past
OK, I had some more discs come in:
The Martian Blu Ray
Star Trek 2: Blu Ray
John Wick
None of them will load. I pulled out another blu ray (Now You see Me) and it loaded.
Sounds like it is an issue with the discs or how they are being read.

I would say drive power issue or bad drive.rustyowens wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 7:56 pmOK, I had some more discs come in:

For power use both USB cable direct into the motherboard no front panel ones
Or buy a high powered USB hub
For bad drive the first thing to try is cleaning the laser on the bp50 that's extremely easy just eject the tray and clean them with a lint free cloth damp and then dry it.

If it is a bad drive then why do some discs work and some don't

Re: Days of Future Past
Because different Blu-rays are actually different data density.rustyowens wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 8:21 pmIf it is a bad drive then why do some discs work and some don't
Some are bd25 others are bd50 for UHD to goes up to bd100
So maybe it just won't read the higher density discs.
Sadly I have seen many more bad drives than I have seen bad discs

Is there anywhere to see the data density for these discs?Billycar11 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 8:31 pmBecause different Blu-rays are actually different data density.rustyowens wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 8:21 pmIf it is a bad drive then why do some discs work and some don't

Re: Days of Future Past
MakeMKV's first screen will show you details about the disc, including the number of layers and how much data is on the disc. Also, sites like blu-ray.com typically list disc info in their reviews.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/X-Men-Days-of-Future-Past-Blu-ray/72503/
^ that says it is a single, two layer disc, a BD-50.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/1917-4K-Blu-ray/259242/
^ that 4K UHD, however, comes on a BD-100, which is a triple layer disc.
