Cant flash LG BH16NS40

Post by jackydany »

Hi,

i bought a drive because my older BH16NS40 scratched the disc :(

this one is Firmware 1.03
Manufactured august 2015

i tried the sdftool but every firmware i try, it tells me, the drive is not the correct hardware platform.

are there different hardware revisions for the drive i am not aware of? this one seems to be 1939
in makemkv it shows:

Code: Select all

OS-Gerätename: E:
Produzent: HL-DT-ST
Produkt: BD-RE BH16NS40
Revision: 1.03
Serienummer: xxxxxxxx
Firmware-Datum: 2115-05-26 17:14
Markierungen der Bus-Verschlüsselung: 17
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1939
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Partial
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
i didnt realize that there is a revision of ns40 drives that are not patchable.

Any help about this?

Besides the UHD feature, is this drive able to do the same as a flashed / patched one?

Thanks in advance

Too old. It's the old hardware version, not the newer one. Don't attempt to flash it! It will never do UHD but can still read BD/DVD/CD the same as any newer drive. Why would you buy a used drive and not a new one?
Cheers :D

i bought it used because its much cheaper and does the job.

You thought wrong!! They started with the MT1959 chipset from around October 2015.
Cheers :D

Hello.
I search sdflasher.exe which is only for mt1939, which has no brake!

It is only intended to release the brake, It should read faster.
My LG BH16NS40 is SVC code NS40.
The firmware V1.03 should release the brake without it being able to rip UHD.
However, it can read and write 100GB BD-RE TDK 2x with UDF format V2.5.
Here the firmware information reading with MakeMKV V1.17.7:
Laufwerksinformation
OS-Gerätename: \Device\CdRom6
Aktuelles Profil: BD-RE
Produzent: HL-DT-ST
Produkt: BD-RE BH16NS40

Firmware-Datum: 2114-03-26 11:15
Markierungen der Bus-Verschlüsselung: 17
Highest AACS version: 31

You just read what Marty posted. Didn't you? So don't be childish and accept that MT1939 won't work. Tzzzzz.....

Hello.
I've read it, but if we all know that you can't delete the calibration data, otherwise the drive won't read any media, you could reprogram a sdflasher.exe so that it only flashes the firmware without the calibration data.
It could have been that this has already been reprogrammed.
Ok, I just thought they had reprogrammed something for it in the meantime?!
