Pioneer BDR 209 "No Disc inserted"

Post by Milchr3is » Sat Apr 13, 2024 5:15 pm

Hello there,

I have the following drive:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-209M
Revision: 1.51
Serial number: RKDL007161WL
Firmware date: 2018-05-08
Bus encryption flags: 13
Highest AACS version: 39

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8601
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-209
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.51/ID60
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

I have the problem that it only reads like 20% of my BR disks. Maybe even less. When I put the discs in it shortly states that it is loading the disc but then changes its mind to "No Disc inserted". I tried the following already: set the "read retry" to a highger level, only turn on the drive when makemkv is running, I made sure the discs are fine with playing them with my normal blu ray player and tried a different software. Would flashing the player help maybe or is it a hardware problem?

Thank you very much in advance!

Generally you don't flash Pioneer drives. Pioneer firmware update February 2023

It is possible the optics on your drive are a bit dirty. I'm not an expert on cleaning drive optics, but I do know it can be done.
