Avatar not ripping?
Avatar not ripping?
I put avatar in and nothing happens like no output begins. What's wrong here? I have the newest version of MakeMKV and the daspi installed.

Hi!
Have you determined whether your original commercial disc plays properly on a standalone player or anything else?

Re: Avatar not ripping?
Yes it works perfectly fine in ps3
Re: Avatar not ripping?
This might be related to the same problem myself and others have had with Office Space. It appears that some discs with BD+ decrypt, but no longer rip to an MKV file. The thread for that problem is here:

Does this sound like what is happening to you o0jelly0o?

Yes that sounds exactly like what's happening here, it starts off with 4k and says it's reading but never outputs anything else. Thanks for pointing me to this tho.
Re: Avatar not ripping?
Unfortunately I can't revert back to an older version of MakeMKV as someone in the other thread suggested because the only reason my drive works with MakeMKV is due to the latest update. Is there any other fix to this problem?
Re: Avatar not ripping?
If I backup the disk to my HDD will I be able to just make an mkv of it once the issue is resolved?
Re: Avatar not ripping?
So I thought about backing up the disk to the HDD and then downloading an older version of MakeMKV to make the actual mkv but the backup failed for some reason so I don't know what to do really.
Re: Avatar not ripping?
I'm having the same trouble with Avatar and v1.6.13. I then tried 1.6.12, but it was going so slowly, and slowing down everything else on my computer, that I had to terminate that attempt. I'm now trying it with v1.6.8 - it's slow going (3.5 hours elapsed, estimated 6 hours remaining). I'll update if/when it finishes.

This is related to your drive and is not the same issue other people are reporting.greguva wrote:it's slow going (3.5 hours elapsed, estimated 6 hours remaining). I'll update if/when it finishes.

Re: Avatar not ripping?
That may be so, but I've ripped hundreds of blu-rays and have never had this problem until this disc, and nothing else on my system has changed. And the problem I had with v1.6.13 is exactly what the others have reported. Anyway, it finally ripped after 9 hours with v1.6.8.crowfax wrote:This is related to your drive and is not the same issue other people are reporting.
Re: Avatar not ripping?
Almost certainly a poorly manufactured disc. Swap it for another one.greguva wrote:That may be so, but I've ripped hundreds of blu-rays and have never had this problem until this disc
