How is the 1080p to 4K upcaling on the Ugoos? Seems that the only reason I would keep my ub9000 would be to play 1080p Blu-rays with panasonic's upscaling, but if the ugoos is comparable, I think I'll ditch my player.

I don't know. I think dmdreview tested upscaling but I'm not sure.. Ask him: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/pictur ... t-63232842DylanValenti wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 11:43 pmHow is the 1080p to 4K upcaling on the Ugoos? By default Coreelec plays 1080p files in 1080p resolution, so the upscaling is handled by the tv.DylanValenti wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 11:43 pmHow is the 1080p to 4K upcaling on the Ugoos? I think it only does bilinear upscaling otherwise, but I haven't checked.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Random question for RESET_9999, or anyone else who knows:
Looking at the "GRADE/MASTER CHECK" tab on RESET_9999's spreadsheet, there are films listed there for which it says we should not inject the DV RPU from WEB into the HDR10 remux, because they aren't suitable for various reasons e.g. static DV, different grade.
If someone had created a profile 8 hybrid for one of these unsuitable films anyway, is the HDR10 fallback for this bad hybrid still correct? i.e. is the HDR10 fallback of the profile 8 hybrid identical to the HDR10 remux?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
HDR10 playback is fine as long as your player doesn't tonemap DV to HDR10 like the x800m2/x700 can do when you have DV set to ''on'' and play a TS/M2TS rip.

Just wanted to say thanks for mentioning the AM6B+ RESET_9999, just ordered one and am very excited to try out CoreELEC on it. Using Kodi for my remux DV collection without having to convert to TS files for the x800 is going to be such a better experience.

You'll love it!! I can't believe we had this device this whole time and it only needed proper coding... Big props to @cpm00 for figuring out the fake tv-led bug.
This shows how implementation in devices is important. Just look how poorly the AppleTV and Shield perform with the colorspace conversion pattern: https://slow.pics/c/NBQVuXQw
Btw the C2 internal player also has colorspace and YCBCR clipping problems.
People who are upgrading from a Nvidia Shield will notice a HUGE difference, especially for FEL movies that expand brightness but also with playback. No more dropped frame or stuttering and no more red push.

The only downside is that we have hundreds of DT-DL TS rip to remux to ST-DL MKV. Thankfully mkvtoolnix now supports the conversion.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@RESET_9999, thank you for the good findings. I have a few questions regarding AM6B+.
1. AM6B+ is CMv4.0 device, right?
2. Can older CMv2.9 TVs benefit from AM6B+ overall?
3. How stable is the experience AM6B+ plus coreelec?
I am wondering if it is worth the update from x800m2 + AppleTV setup.

1- Yes
2- Yes, the Ugoos is more accurate than the ATV and more practical than the x800m2.
3- 100% stable so far and already watched over 10 movies (FEL P7 & P8)

Thanks, just a final additional for DV to the CE team's efforts - the player continues to improve on this fully open source (apart from DoVi library for obvious reasons) platform it's a great elegant solution for the home enthusiast, without the worry of a bloated Android OS and whatever else would be lurking in the corners on such a platform.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 2:22 pmBig props to @cpm00 for figuring out the fake tv-led bug.
I imagine the issue will eventually be twigged by AMLogic and more devices / solutions will benefit overtime, but for now this is the one.
If you still measure a tiny diff in brightness, when you get a spare moment can you give the following a try:
Code: Select all
echo 13 > /sys/module/amdolby_vision/parameters/dolby_vision_flagsPersonally I cannot see a diff but not got the setup to measure that low level brightness.
to revert can just reboot - or issue this command:
Code: Select all
echo 5 > /sys/module/amdolby_vision/parameters/dolby_vision_flags-

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Sure I can have a look this weekend when I also compare CMV4.0 (and CE-21) but honestly, right now I'm 100% satisfied with the current build ( 20.5) I did all my tests and I'm more in my ''enjoying movies'' phase

Been a long time lurker in this thread, just wanted to say thank you to RESET_9999 and all the other folks in here for the helpful information over the years! Have a AM6B+ on the way now and looking forwarding to testing it out with some DV mkvs!

Hi m8, this is a ssh command, right?cpm00 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 12:37 pmThanks, just a final additional for DV to the CE team's efforts - the player continues to improve on this fully open source (apart from DoVi library for obvious reasons) platform it's a great elegant solution for the home enthusiast, without the worry of a bloated Android OS and whatever else would be lurking in the corners on such a platform.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 2:22 pmBig props to @cpm00 for figuring out the fake tv-led bug.

If you still measure a tiny diff in brightness, when you get a spare moment can you give the following a try:
It setups the dv engine on the box to follow the sink (TV) luminance values rather than some basic hard coded values of 0.005-4000 nits, I thought his only effected LLDV, but from some comments from quietvoid it may have effect on the FEL 12 bit composition as well.Code: Select all
echo 13 > /sys/module/amdolby_vision/parameters/dolby_vision_flags
Personally I cannot see a diff but not got the setup to measure that low level brightness.

Also can you look into a fix for TrueHD/Atmos to PCM conversion on coreelec. Native Android-kodi works fine but on coreelec only upto AC3 5.1 is converted to PCM.
Thanks.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Yes those are commands to issue on a ssh connection to the box, just short hand to change the values in those sys parameter files.
Was just trying some other things out and turns out the 2nd command will not revert fully - will need to reboot to revert fully.
Would not know where to look on the PCM conversion, could ask the CE guys on their forum, I personally use passthrough.
