7-1 would be a waste of time for a MEL input. You can use 7-2 instead(it works for single input too).

Just a heads up in case you haven't heard:
Our old and well hated friend the UGOOS AM6+ rises from the dead.

With the latest CoreELEC 20.3 Nexus version, it finally supports proper Dolby Vision FEL decoding with HD audio passthrough. I just installed it on my device (I have the AM6b+), configured audio passthrough, installed Plex Mod 4 Kodi and it just played every MKV Remux with Dolby Vision I tried. No Issues with pausing or skipping.

Source and how-to: https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/ ... _team_has/
Beware: My device did not boot from the SD card right away, I had to press the "recovery" button on the bottom of the device before powering it on. Then it booted fine - following start directly booted to CoreELEC, no need to press the recovery button again.
I guess I didn't throw this device after all. I booted up 20.3 w/ DV and yeah, FEL playback is no better than other devices. Power Rangers' credits are gray and not white like they should be.

On my Ugoos Power Rangers credits are white not grey. May be you are watching the DT.DL version and not ST-DL version?

I have a question.

I have some AMZN episodes that are both in HDR10-only and HDR10+. The issue I have is the HDR10+ versions are very very grainy. Much worse than regular film grain, especially in lower lit scenes. I measured both with MadVR (6-6) and the clear HDR10-only episodes peak at 2.1k nits whereas the HDR10+ episodes peak at 10k nits. Will analysing the clear HDR10+ episodes with CM v4.0 9 (3-1) @ 10k nits net me the same or similar HDR results as the grainy HDR10+ episodes or is it a bad idea?

Unfortunately, my TV (C2) doesn't support HDR10+ so I cannot directly compare the both.

There are also ways to fix it when you calibrate but I don't know much about it... @chros could tell you more.
You don't even have to calibrate it, just to have good eyes (or lupe), guide.
I will try out Tmin=0, have you yet?
Tmin=0 doesn't do anything with the raised black in DoVi on LG Oleds.

good to know thanks... Strange how the DV engine works differently in LLDV for that aspect.

Question, I'm looking to batch analyse a folder. However, I want the MDL to be 7 and all the borders to be 0. Dovi_Scripts tells me to provide a external config file.

How do I do such thing?

if your folder with files all have the same MDL and Active area, you don't have to provide external config files.

PS: please ask your dovi_scripts questions on doom9 official support thread: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=185317
I'll eventually stop answering questions about my script here on makemkv.

But if I copy the folder to Dovi_Tools after selecting 3-1, it doesn't ask me the MDL or borders I want to use. So how does it know I want option 7 and 0 borders?

if you input a folder and no config file is found, it will ask you for a MDL and L5 which will be used for all the videos in the folder.
If the videos in your folder are cropped, the script won't ask you about it and will automatically set L5 to 0

Dovi_Tools usually doesn't ask me to choose an MDL or L5 when I input a whole folder. Edit: Weird, it does now. Typical!

I also cannot seem to choose and MDL of 10000, I think I could in the past. Has it been removed? Also, is there are difference in HDR quality when choosing a, say, MDL 10000 over 4000?

Is there a way to disable tone mapping in Movies & TV app or energy player with MSFT HW video decoder, and pass through HDR10 metadata? Or do I have to use MPV for passing through HDR10 and switch to MSFT HW video decoder for tone mapping DV content?
no i think the OS HDR always sends incorrect static HDR10 metadata.
Do you mean the OS HDR sends incorrect static metadata even when using MadVR with HDR Passthrough? Is NV HDR any different?

Yes, 4000 MDL looks much darker vs 1000. As for the metadata, the L1 max and min are the same but the avg is not calculated the same. Trims are also different.

this the only MDL possible in resolve and CM
