Subtitles failure

#1 Post by mkvgrub » Fri Aug 21, 2009 3:42 pm

Hi. Ripped The Class BD (French w/English subtitles) and Kagemusha BD (Japanese w/English subtitles). Cannot get subtitles to work using either Plex or VLC for playback of the MKV files. Mac Pro (early 2009). Any ideas?? Thanks!

Plex and VLC can handle the PGS subtitles in Bluray movies. Maybe in the future these apps will support it. I've ripped my movies to include the subtitles in the hopes that future releases of Plex will support this.

Thanks for the answer, I'm getting desperate. However, I don't believe I'm understanding... are you saying that neither Plex nor VLC can play the subtitles in ripped BDs (to MKV)? Also, I'm not familiar with the term PGS subtitles...

That's correct. Plex and VLC cannot play PGS subtitles. These are the subtitles you rip using the MakeMKV software. Check out this thread on another forum:
