if the EDID min target is not 0nits, yes, LLDV has raised black on all the devices I tested.

Is the EDID min target based on the video file or the TV?

With hdmi devices like HDfury vertex or raspberry pi + Pgen.
There might be other ways I'm not aware of but I know that there is some cheap HDMI splitter that can let you upload any edid(I have one for any brightness).

which TV? All the Sony LLDV EDID I've seen had the min pq target set to 0

No idea. Do you see raised or crushed black?

you can use this pure black test file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EoqK5- ... drive_link
and this black clipping pattern for crushed black: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PWdxtV ... drive_link

I will definitely check those out. I was testing the eagle beak L1 L2 test file both in DV and HDR10 and I noticed that when looking at an angle where more artifacts are visible, on a dark spot there was a bigger black area on the DV viewing than on the HDR viewing. Not big, only a little bigger and probably not even noticable when you watch normally.
And in a movie I was testing in a couple scenes some shadows just seemed a little tinted and not completely dark but it could have just been how those shadows are and it was normal, it could just be me. Also in one of those shots I saw anothing similar thing like the beak video, when looked at from an angle, on a shadow there was a slightly bigger black area with DV on than with HDR10.

@ aboulfad not related to CW but could you test this file please on your E7 internal player and oppo? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GQ6CHY ... sp=sharing
i did a new FEL test file which makes it more obvious when FEL is decoded. Works well on my x700.

Thank you for this masterpiece :D It helped me a lot with my current headache:
I decided to switch out my Shield Pro with a CCwGTV, as i have grown annoyed with the red push on the Shield (and lack of FEL support), and needed a gf-friendly way to watch as much content as possible while playing it in as good quality as possible. (I have an X700 for TrueHD Atmos & DTS-X stuff)

I have come to the conclusion to use the Monsoon Kodi build, which seems to correctly play everything i throw at it (Including FEL, as verified by this test file), and passes through 5.1 channel DTS-HD/Atmos to lossless LPCM. Plex also kinda works, but is finicky, and i really prefer any kodi build over plex. All official Kodi versions & the Maven Kodinerds builds does not play FEL at all.

Am i on to something here, or is it just another red herring in a long line of such?

yes the GTV Chromecast works very well for FEL P7 MKV rip as long as you don't try to resume or FF/RW. This is my experience with PLEX and I don't know about Kodi.

If I have an ST-DL file and it plays on the X700 is there a reason to convert it to DT-DL?

Hello @RESET_9999

My setup is the same as yours (x800m2 direct to the C2) but I am facing quite a strange scenario with two different DV movies.

Yesterday i was watching the new Wonka movie in the internal player of the C2 because the movie is cropped (3840x1604). Imediately i noticed that the movie was dimmer than normal levels. When i opened the same file in the x800m2, i noticed it was playing with a brighter image, albeit with grey bars.

Today i re-tested with a non cropped file (Aquaman 2) in both the C2 internal player and the x800m2 and now the brightness levels were the same in both players!

I have a shield pro, should i use that to see cropped content instead of the internal player?

I would guess it's because CMV4.0 and this is why I always remove it. The L2 trims in Wonka is a global positive lift which is ignored by cmv4.0 devices.
In Aquaman, the L2 trims are not a positive lift. Try to remove CMV4.0 in wonka and I bet the brightness will match the x800m2.

Slope - Offset value over 2048 = positive lift
Power value under 2048 = positive lift

Thank you! What is the workflow to convert to ts and remove the CMV4.0?
