Source Code BR

Post by efithian »

Running MakeMKV 1.6.12 with the BR disc Source Code gives me about 30 different titles each about 25gb, and each title has multiple subtitle files. How do I determine which ones to use?

Do you have a blu-ray player? They usually tell you the title number they're playing, then you can pick the same one in MakeMKV.

Also, sometimes just looking at the playlist numbers in MakeMKV gives it away. Ususally main titles are 0100 or 0200 etc...

Hi!

You should also be aware that yet another new type of (via Java) protection (NOT "Verance/Cinavia") is apparently used on the US version of the "Source Code" Blu-ray disc.

Read the two posts at the following link to a Doom9 Forum thread:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p ... ost1515647

I'd anticipate hearing something about this from "Mike Admin", as to whether this will be addressed by MakeMKV...

I had the same thing happen to me today. I just chose the first one and it seemed to rip it ok (I did various seeks until the end, haven't watched it yet).

I just picked up the disc today as well. I've tried it both under Windows (with AnyDVD to remove the Java structural protection) and under Linux. The number of titles presented are the same. From this I think we can infer that Java structural protection makes no difference to the operation of MakeMKV. Though I'd be interested to have this confirmed by Mike.

I'd be interested to know why they felt the need to have so many playlists on the disc?

While the enhanced Java protection may have no effect on using MakeMKV to create an .MKV of this Blu-ray, it certainly DOES impair the ability to make a properly and fully functional FULL DISC backup using MakeMKV...

Undoubtedly to make it as difficult as possible to determine the correct one(s) to select for a "movie only" version.

BTW, unless I goofed or overlooked one, it appears that you can (only) use either 00743.MPLS or 00876.MPLS for a correct "movie only" version.

Try using BDInfo. The first one on the list is the right one 99% of the time. Then google for the movie name and the playlist number and see if there are any hits. It looks 00259.MPLS is the correct playlist for Source Code

Hi, I'm new at this. Just got this yesterday myself. Can anyone confirm which title it is?

I ripped the first one (title00) and I got a 1:32:07 length movie.

ok, at 26:14 through 27:02 it plays the same scene 3 or 4 times in a row. it doesn't seem to flow with the movie and I think it's incorrect. can anyone confirm?

Me too. The DVD plays 18 chapters & the duration is 01:34 so it's different than title00.

Ahhh the most low tech copy protection ever!

How did you determine that it must be 00743.MPLS or 00876.MPLS? I'm going to give it a try now.

I tried 00259 for title 13 and it looks one of the scenes about 3 times.
Also 00800 for title 37 does the same.

Ah, ignore my above question. They're the only two playlists that are 1:33:12 long, which is what my blu-ray player reports it to be. I see one of them only has 2 english subtitle streams and the other has 8. Given the movie only has 2 english audio tracks if I were a betting man I'd say the playlist with 2 subtitle tracks is the right one.

I'll rip them now and see if I can tell which is right, just making some space on my PC first.

According to tsMuxer, 743 and 876 each contain 9 English PGS subtitle streams...
