Looks pretty bright yellow to me. Will test it out in HDR10 later, made me curious.
its because you've never seen it with Chroma Weight working.
Try on the FireTV stick or on the Shield in LLDV.

I’ve also ssh’ed to my TV in dev mode, but that’s a chroot limited mode so I can’t search… how do you know or have your TV’s default DV config ?
I don't think the guy who calibrated my TV changed the internal config and I never tried to get that info from my TV( I never mess with my C2).

Oh, so the C2 doesn't process the Chroma Weight by itself, but if processed by a player than can, it will have an effect on the C2's colors.

Idk how DV calibration works for C2 (check avsforum), but for the older 7 series, it’s a tedious procedure & $ equipment that in the end you load a DV profile onto the TV using a USB stick. This is a LG supported procedure used by DV pro calibrators. I can add that profile, update or erase it using the LGTV when I play a DV film.

So when you asked me about my original DV profile, I thought you had yours extracted somehow from the TV.

@ aboulfad not related to CW but could you test this file please on your E7 internal player and oppo? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GQ6CHY ... sp=sharing
i did a new FEL test file which makes it more obvious when FEL is decoded. Works well on my x700.

It is the same process on a C2.

I say that having never calibrated a 2017 LG OLED. I have a 2014 LG OLED (SDR-only) but skipped 2015-2017. I have a 2018, 2019, and 2022 (and have calibrated a 2020, 2021, and 2023). I've calibrated all of them with CalMAN, and the final step is to capture the color primaries + peak/min luminance. You then upload a configuration file over the network to the LG TV.

Oh that hurt my eyes, you should put a "seizure" warning  & that joker shot eery ! So I can see at the start "This device can decode..." & I think the whole test pattern looks similar on both E7 & Oppo. Though there's too much going on & idk the purpose of those flashes. I didn't follow much few years ago about the FEL decoding...when that joker shot was so popular !

PS: btw @speeddemon confirmed the DV cal is similar on C2, so what did your calibrator calibrate, maybe he transferred the file over network to your TV without you noticing ?

what is TLMS2RGBmat ? It's in the file that I used.

Code: Select all

haha, yeah the flashes are the RPU mapping data. I tried to remove them but then the pattern no longer worked. Thanks for testing.

He's someone I know ( well a friend of a friend) and he didn't give me any file and he only showed me the calman results graph on his laptop and told me to call him if I noticed anything wrong after firmware updates.
That is also why I never really touch with my C2, I'm scared to mess up the calibration.

The fact that chroma weight doesn't work with the default config on your E7 is very strange though, I hope you can find your original data so we can compare with your custom config.

The DV cal profile is supposed to persist after firmware updates, it must be stored in some special area (still hunting for it). He must have transferred it over the network as @speeddemon described. You can't mess anything bcoz you don't have it :)

I have found a bunch of DV profile data lying around in the firmware, but it requires a DV calibrator to understand the entries. I paste above the one I re-used from sonoftumble@avsforum.

PS: I also tested the Multi.Pattern with & without a custom DV profile, there's few sections on that pattern that fail without the custom DV profile: most notable is tracking & color space conversion from a quick glance.

@RESET_9999 have you been able to test the color saturation/accuracy on the 23AFTVS4KM?

For DV MKV playback, I've been using my C2 internal player lately. It seems stable and it works very well, at least for the 3 movies I watched so far.
You have to sideload Kodi in developer mode but it's not too complicated to do and its pretty nice to finally have DV MKV support on LG TVs.
https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kodi_for_webOS
hi @RESET_9999

have you also installed this kodi on your C8? I have a c8 and was considering trying this. the kodi wiki says it supports webos 4+ (C8 is 4.4.2) but somewhere I read that it works properly only with webos 5+?

if you have, would love to know how it works with DV MKV files? what are the negatives etc. I read earlier in this thread you said there were major issues if the mkv had HD audio but what about with regular DD/DTS (5.1, 7.1, atmos)?

also was wondering if there was any additional stress on the TV (for eg higher CPU usage or something like that) compared to using plex/emby as I would not want it to affect the tv.

TIA

I dont have the C8 anymore so I dont know.

Lossless audio is still a problem on my C2:
1- 5.1 dts or truehd play as 2 channels pcm + DV which is better than on plex where it falls back to HDR10. (C8 should be fine with DTS though)
2- 7.1 dts or truehd completely break the app for me and I have to restart the TV.
3- plex audio selection is inverted in kodi.
4- ddp 1536kbps stutter

solution:
encode DDP at 1024kbps and configure kodi to always select the track with the ''default'' flag. This has been 100% stable on my end (video + audio).

CPU usage seems fine but the memory usage is very high (80% +). I'm not sure if it's normal or fine. I never checked the ram usage using plex.

No TV can passthrough TrueHD/DTS-HD from internal app player to receiver/soundbar right?

Interesting article I found.
